Nagorno-Karabakh

If the answer to this question is given, further developments will be predictable. Atanesyan

Radar Armenia's interlocutor is Vahram Atanesyan, a former NKR National Assembly member and political analyst.

- What did the attempt by Azerbaijanis to block the Stepanakert-Goris road mean?

- The Azerbaijani side says that Russian peacekeepers blocked the Stepanakert-Goris traffic while negotiations were underway to ensure the entry of specialists. The fact that the commander of the peacekeeping force met with the people from Baku allows us to assume that he was aware. The rest is a subject of analysis; the structures belonging to Artsakh should deal with it.

- After several hours of negotiations, the road was opened. How likely is it that the Azerbaijani side will retake such actions?

- Any phenomenon should be considered in the context of interdependence. In the summer, joint studies were carried out with the agreement of Artsakh-Azerbaijan regarding the Sarsang hydro junction. Why did the Azerbaijanis not block the road? Are they blocking it today? If the answer to this question is given, further developments will be predictable. There is no answer, so nothing is excluded.

- At the beginning of this year, Azerbaijan stopped the gas supply to Artsakh. In your opinion, how long will the creation of humanitarian problems continue?

- On November 17, Ilham Aliyev received the special envoy of the Eastern Partnership of the European Union and assured that "he is ready for a dialogue with the representatives of the Armenian population of Karabakh." The MFA of Artsakh refused. This is the real problem.

- The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, announced in his last press conference that the Armenian side has recently been talking more about the rights of the Armenians living in Karabakh and not about the status of Nagorno-Karabakh, and the Azerbaijani side is ready to discuss and give guarantees. How will you interpret it? Is it possible?

-Sergey Lavrov knows very well that Armenia means something completely different by the security and rights of Artsakh. It makes no sense to comment on Lavrov's contradictory statements. It will only harm our negotiating position.
