Armenian films restored in 4K format will be shown in New York

Within the framework of the state program of film digitization and restoration funded by the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Armenian films were restored in 4K format at the initiative of the National Film Center of Armenia.

'To Save and Project" at one of the most prestigious cultural platforms in the world, New York's MoMA Museum of Contemporary Art, as part of the 20th International Festival of Film Preservation, on January 28 at 1:30 p.m. and on January 31, at 1:00 p.m., the films of Hamo Beknazaryan, the founder of Armenian cinema, "The House on the Volcano" (1928) and "Yerkir Nairi" (1930) will be shown in 4K restored format.

It should also be noted that in January 2022, within the framework of the "To Save and Project" festival at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Sergey Parajanov's film "Hakob Hovnathanyan," restored in 4K format, was shown and handed over to the permanent preservation of the museum.

It is the first Armenian film handed over to the permanent preservation of the museum. This film was also restored with the financial support of the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports.
